Beschreibung
Natural disasters, with far reaching and sever physical, ecological and socio-economic consequences, can occur suddenly like earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, cyclones and landslides. These are becoming increasingly significant both in terms of numbers of events and magnitude of impacts. Evidence suggests that the frequency of natural disasters has increased in recent decades. The potential for major floods has increased. Floods are not only caused by high amounts of precipitation, but also by man-made changes to the earths surface. Each year, flood kills thousands of people and causes tens of billions of dollars in property damage. Various flood disaster management strategies have been developed to reduce the hazards of flooding. The book sheds light on flood zone disaster management in Irai river of Chandrapur district, Central India.
