The purpose of this study was to investigate the teacher related factors affecting student achievement in Biological sciences in selected secondary schools in Bomet and Kericho Counties. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, five specific research objectives were generated to guide the investigation i.e. to assess the relationship between the teachers gender and students achievement in biological sciences, to assess the relationship between teacher experience and student achievement in biological sciences, to determine the effect of the teachers knowledge levels on students achievement in biological sciences, to determine the effect of the teachers skills levels on students achievement in biological sciences and to determine the effect of the teachers level of disposition on students achievement in biological sciences. A descriptive survey design was employed. The instruments used to collect data were teachers questionnaire, lesson observation guide, classroom checklist and biology achievement test questionnaire for form four students. The data for the study was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics.

Joshua Lawrence Langat was Born 1955 at Bomet County. Attended kamogoson and Makimeny primary school, Narok high school. He did his A/L level at Saint Mary Yala, Siaya County. He got his first degree from University of Nairobi, Master degree in education at Kenyatta University and Doctorate degree at Moi University.
