The pear tree is a species of the genus Pyrus L. in the family Rosaceae, bearing the pomaceous fruit. Several species of pear are valued for their edible fruit and juices while others are cultivated as trees. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed El-Esawi is a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge in the UK and Associate Professor of Molecular Genetics at Tanta University, Egypt. He received his Ph.D. degree from Technological University Dublin, Ireland. He joined various European universities as a Research Fellow and authored several articles and books.
