Retention is the phase of orthodontic treatment that attempts to keep teeth in the corrected positions after completion with orthodontic braces. Without retention there is a tendency for the teeth to return to their original position.Thus the long term stability of orthodontic treatment remains as a challenge for orthodontists.This book gives a thorough knowledge on various methods of retention attained after different orthodontic corrections and their stability. It also summarizes the various retainers used in orthodontics and also the recent advances in this field.
