The specialty of orthodontia has evolved over the years in terms of material science, technology, treatment efficient, precision engineering and other related aspects. Conventional wisdom in business world says that to grow, you have to first sustain, explore the options and then expand. The same notion holds true for orthodontic clinical practice as well. Nevertheless, practice governance and management are the least explored entities amongst the orthodontists with basic knowledge in information technology, behavioral management, finance & taxation, law & litigation and professional ethics, it is conceivable to manage and maintain an orthodontic practice that is self-sustainable and can be seen as professional model for other specialties.

Dr. Jitendra Sharan did graduation in Dental Sciences and post-graduation in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from Manipal University (India). This was followed by joining the faculty position at MCODS-Mangalore, India. In the pursuit of research acumen he joined Division of Orthodontics, CDER, AIIMS, New Delhi as Research Scholar.
