Beschreibung
Algae and cyanobacteria are responsible for the presence of toxins in fresh water bodies. Algae rarely form blooms like cyanobacteria do, and the toxins they produce are less dangerous to the animals or humans. Some cyanobacteria species can form very dense concentrations of toxins which induce variable effects on the other inhabitants of both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Moreover, algae produce different types of vitamins, enzymes and growth regulators. Therefore, the current book illustrate and discuss the toxins and other active compounds produce from different algal species.
