Beschreibung

This book contains the report of a research project titled households willingness to adopt cassava waste utilization technologies in Southwest, Nigeria. Data were collected from 200 cassava processors from Ogun and Lagos States. Cassava processing households were presented with three cassava waste utilization technologies. On-farm demonstration of the most desired cassava waste utilization technology (for mushroom production) was then carried out among 25 cassava processing households who were willing to participate in the demonstration. Results showed that 23% of the processed cassava tubers constitute waste per processing cycle. The factors affecting households willingness to adopt cassava waste utilization technologies are ownership of resources among household members, tasks allocated to individual members of the households and proportion of individuals income to households income. This book is therefore useful to policy makers and research students, as well as local cassava processors on adding value to cassava wastes such as cassava peel.
