The subject of algae is essential and relevant to the study of plants and science in general. Algae are important group of plants which are vital in different areas of life. Algae are seedless plants and are classified into several divisions. Algae are useful in nutrition; as some are edible. They can be cultured for bio-fuel production such as ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen. Algae are also used in the production of agar, alginate which are used in the manufacture of food, pharmaceutical products and other industrial material.
