Beschreibung

This book covers all the key biophysical techniques needed to characterize collagen-mimetic peptides such as CD, X-ray, NMR and fluorescence. It also elaborates how the thermal stability, structure, and dynamics, as well as quantitative information on collagen model peptides are obtained. Pursuing a holistic approach, the book establishes a fundamental framework, while emphasizing the potential applications of each technique in detail. This approach helps readers from different disciplines recognize the essential aspects of and milestones in the biophysical techniques developed specifically for collagen peptides. The book is intended for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in collagen, researchers investigating collagen function and diseases, and material scientists working on biomimetic materials.

Autorenporträt

Prof. Jianxi Xiao received his bachelor's degree from Wuhan University in 2003 and Ph.D. degree from Rutgers University-New Brunswick, New Jersey in 2009. He continued his postdoc studies at Rutgers University and got a full professor position in College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Lanzhou University, Gansu, China in 2012. Dr. Xiao's research interests focus on biophysical characterization of collagen mimic peptides by utilizing an integrated approach of NMR, Fluorescence, Computational simulation, Bioinformatics and Biochemistry. His work has greatly enhanced our understanding of the structure, function and pathology of collagen, and has been published in esteemed journals such as the Journal of American Chemical Society and Journal of Biological Chemistry. Dr. Xiao is reviewer of several international journals and invited speaker of several international conferences.
