Collagen is the main protein of connective tissue in animals and the most abundant protein in mammals, making up to 35% of the whole-body protein content. Collagen is the major structural and glycoprotein component of all connective tissues and also found in the interstitial tissue of virtually all parenchymal organs. It contributes to the stability of tissues and organs and maintains their structural integrity of parenchymal tissues. The human body is comprised of cells and connective tissue. This book contributes about history, functions, structure and role of collagen in dental tissues and disease of collagen in a very simple language easy to understand both for undergraduates and postgraduates.
