Project management is a crucial process in many organizations today. It brings together competencies and techniques from diverse fields for the purpose of achieving specific objectives. New projects cut across all sectors, and unfortunately they are plagued with high failure rates. More than ever before, leaders are being held highly accountable for projects that they manage. The purpose of this book is to identify factors that contribute to effective leadership in project management. In particular, the book explores the role of leadership in effectively managing human resources and accomplishing project objectives. This book attempts to show the importance of effective leadership as it relates to the project management. Key issues that were discussed include trait concept of leadership, behavioural approach to leadership, situational leadership, and contingency leadership theory, transactional and transformational leadership. Furthermore, the book seeks to determine factors such as the behaviours, characteristics and skills of leaders that make them effective within the project management profession. This book is recommended for project management professionals and students.

James Robert Cofie is a researcher, seated practitioner in management and a lecturer at the Pentecost University College, Ghana. Nii Armah Addy is a lecturer at the Academic City College, Ghana. He is also a Chartered Management Consultant. He writes a weekly column on "Education & Management" in the Business & Financial Times newspaper.
