The main goal of the university-level nursing education is to provide development of professional identity related to the occupation. But, there are problems in different areas to achieve this objective. The professional identity development, in other words the professional socialization is a process in which students have just begun the nursing education internalize the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and ethical standards regarding nursing and make them a part of their behavior. Social skill education is important to solve the problems of students who examine this process and to faciliate the Professional identity development. In this sudy clinical-theorical education and social-personal problems of second year students are determined and effect of social skill education based on physchoeducation, which faciliate the Professional social identity development, is examined. In this study stressors are determined by qulitative research method then the effect of physchoeducation on social skills is determined by experimental method. the effect of social skill education on Professional identity development is discussed in related literatural context.

She interest in development of professional identity and communicatin skills. Besti Üstün is a professor of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.Her research and publications focus on nurse's burnout and psycho-oncology.
