Beschreibung

Oscillating heat pipe (OHP) or pulsating heat pipe (PHP) has drawn attention as a highly efficient two-phase heat transferring device that does not need the wick structure to return the condensate to evaporator section like many other types of heat pipes. Also, it can transfer the heat through liquid-vapor slug oscillations set up without any aid from external power. In the conventional heat pipe, wick structure helps to return the condensate to the evaporator; hence it can be operated at any orientation. But the performance of oscillating heat pipe gets affected when it is operated at any orientation other than vertical due to the reduction of perturbations caused because of reduced gravity. This restricts the flexibility of the OHP. Hence by keeping this in mind, use of some external means (e.g. sound waves) may help to make oscillating heat pipe operation possible at different orientations. In this research work, sound waves of 1 kHz frequency are generated and are passed through the evaporator section of CLOHP which may increase the perturbations through acoustic cavitation and enhance its thermal performance at all orientations
