Beschreibung
Among the various local environmental factors influencing gingival health is the attachment position on the gingiva of the labial and buccal frenums. These frenums are folds of labial or buccal mucous membrane which usually attach at a distance of several millimetres from the gingival margin so that a zone of attached gingiva lies between the attachment and the margin. If they attach closer to the marginal gingiva then it could influence gingival and periodontal health by interfering with tooth brushing and encourages plaque formation by pulling or averting the gingival margin.
