The orthotropics treatment involves the use of myofunctional appliances, correction of the habit and its maintenance. It is different from orthopaedic dentistry because in that the treatment directly causes change in hard tissue but in orthotropics the forces imparted by soft tissue to the hard tissue make the changes.
