A Dental Operating Microscope (DOM) is an optical instrument, mechanical, electrical or both, consisting of a combination of lenses which provide the clinician with a stereoscopic, high quality magnified image of small structures with in the surgical area. Greater visual acuity with the operating microscope, wide range of magnifications and bright illumination allows for a higher success rate, because vision is enhanced so dramatically that cases can be treated with a higher degree of confidence and accuracy. Microscopes are useful for diagnosis and clinical procedures in medical and dental fields. It has been used in various medical disciplines such as Ophthalmology, Neurosurgery, Reconstructive surgery and Vascular surgery. DOM enhances the Dental surgeons vision so improving treatment outcomes in various specialist fields such as Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Oral surgery and Orthodontics.
