This book provides current recommendations on dental management of patients with congenital and acquired bleeding disorders, as well as those taking anticoagulant and antiplatelet agents. It offers essential information regarding physiological and pathophysiological hemostatic processes, classification of bleeding disorders and their oral manifestations, mechanisms of action of antithrombotic drugs and their implication to dental treatment. Disorders of platelet number and function, hemophilia, Von Willebrand disease and liver disorders are discussed as well ensuring as patient safety and the complexities of dental treatment of patients with bleeding disorders. This book is of interest for general dentists, dental specialists and dental students, but also for physicians who prescribe antithrombotic medications and treat patients with bleeding disorder.
Autorenporträt
Dr. Branislav Bajkin is a full professor at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Medicine Novi Sad, Serbia. He is a Doctor of Dental Medicine, a Medical Doctor and a Specialist in Oral Surgery. He currently serves as Chair of the Dental Committee of the World Federation of Hemophilia. From the beginning of his professional career, he has been actively involved in the dental management of medically compromised patients, including persons with hemophilia and allied disorders. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals focusing on oral surgery in patients with bleeding disorders, as well as in those receiving anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy.
