Fluid - Bed Processors that have been developed offer a unique opportunity to develop and produce coated controlled- release products. However, various process parameters, such as those discussed in this chapter, easily can alter performance of the product and hence should be examined thoroughly during sale-up phase.The purpose of this chapter is to provide a brief guide for scaling up a wurster process from scale up lab to production scale. The Theoretical Scale Up section describes how to theoretically calculate the starting operating parameters when scaling up a process. The process parameters in the Wurster process are controllable precisely, which ensures easier optimization and reproducibility of the product quality.
