In accordance to this classification, complete microbiology and histopathology of osteomyelitis is covered. Furthermore in diagnostic imaging, conventional and advanced imaging techniques like CT, MRI, Scintigraphy and PET scan have been discussed. The therapeutic part covers the interdisciplinary planning of the management of osteomyelitis which includes a microbiologist, an infectious disease specialist and a maxillofacial surgeon. Depending upon microbiology, precise antibiotic regimen for complete eradication of the micro organisms is tabulated, followed by a meticulous surgical rehabilitation of the jaws. In the final segment importance of hyperbaric oxygen as an adjunct to the therapy and osteomyelitis affecting the temporomandibular joint is covered.
