It is well known that also screening tests for early detection of cervical cancer have been widely implemented, this aggressive gynecologic malignancy remains an important health problem worldwide. This aspect is mainly related to the fact that an important number of patients is still diagnosed in an advanced stage of the disease. The current monography brings into discussion the newest aspects regarding epidemiology, histopathological subtypes and therapeutic strategies in invasive cervical cancer.

Nicolae Bacalbasa graduated from "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania and obtained his PhD in the same university in the field of surgical oncology with a special interest in advanced stage ovarian and cervical cancer.
