This work is designed to awaken the nations of Africa to the realities of global development. Most of Africa remains at war war while other continents continue to develop and a much faster pace. Dependence on natural resources is slowly becoming a benefit of the past. It is technological development and knowledge economy that has risen the countries like South Korea, Germany and Japan to greatness. Africa has to rise from slumber and join the trajectory of growth and technological development.

Dr Shepherd Bhero is a Senior Lecturer in metallurgy in the Department of Chemical, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the Botswana International University of Science and Technology. He lectures at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He holds a PhD in metallurgy from the University of Sheffield.
