Beschreibung

This book, Chiral Thioethers: Synthesis and Applications, provides a comprehensive exploration of chiral thioethers, covering their chemistry, synthesis, transformations, and diverse applications. It details both modern catalytic approaches (e.g., organocatalysis, photocatalysis, biocatalysis) and advanced traditional methods (e.g., nucleophilic substitution, coupling reactions) for chiral thioether synthesis, along with their limitations and improvements. Additionally, it explores transformations of chiral thioethers and their critical roles in medicine (drug development), asymmetric catalysis (as ligands), and agrochemicals (pesticides, fungicides). Written for academics and scientists, this book bridges basic concepts and cutting-edge research, making it a valuable resource for understanding the synthesis strategies and practical applications of chiral thioethers.

Qingle Zeng was born in 1970 in Pinghe County, Zhangzhou, China. He studied at Fujian Normal University as an undergraduate in 1990-1994. And then he studied at Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences as a postgraduate and got his MSc degree in 1997. During 1997-1999, he worked as a teaching assistant and then as a lecturer at Minnan Normal University. Then he began to pursue a Ph. D. Degree and in 2002, he received his PhD degree majored in organic chemistry from Chengdu Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He worked as an enterprise postdoctoral fellow majored in pharmaceutical sciences at Chengdu Diao Pharmaceutical Group and Sichuan University (2002-2004) and as a postdoctoral fellow in chemistry at Xiamen University (2004-2006). In 2006, he joined the faculty of Chengdu University of Technology as an associate professor (2006-2007) and then as a full professor (Jan. 2008-Apr. 2025). During 2008 to 2009, he worked as a visiting scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). From May 2025, he worked as a full professor at Guangan Institution of Technology and as an adjunct professor at Chengdu University of Technology. His research interests focus on organosulfur chemistry, chiral synthesis, synthesis of drugs and organic intermediates, and functional materials. He has published one monograph and more than 170 papers, including more than 120 SCI papers.
