This book portrays the basic understandings of the bioinorganic chemistry of metal based photochemotherapeutic agents. It focuses on different aspects of the chemistry and photo-biology of various metal complexes, their interaction with double helical DNA, DNA photocleavage and photo-enhanced cytotoxicity in various human cancer cells in presence of light of suitable wavelength. The book also covers the chemistry of a few examples of ferrocene-conjugated copper(II) complexes in great details that are capable of binding to DNA, damage DNA upon photo-exposure and photocytotoxic to cancer cells in visible light for their potential application as photochemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of cancer.
Autorenporträt
Tridib Kumar Goswami was born in Assam, India. He completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Gauhati University, Assam. He was awarded Ph.D degree by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in the year 2013 for his work in the area of metal based anticancer agents. He has authored more than ten publications in reputed international journals.
