The rapid forest degradation has affected the primate habitat in general and the forest dwelling Assamese macaque in particular. This adversely affects the ecology of the species and forces them to lead a provisioning life. This book briefs about the comparative aspect of ecology and socio-behaviour of the provisioned and forest groups of Assamese macaque in order to understand the origin and patterns of stress and their effect on the species keeping in mind the holistic approach of conservation.

Dr. Prabal Sarkar, M.Sc and Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology, has been working for last 20 years in the field of wildlife ecology. He has physically handled wildlife for research and conservation purposes. Presently he is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forestry, Wildlife & Environmental Sciences at Guru Ghasidas University, India
