Beschreibung
Osteoporosis is a serious disorder of the skeleton that increases bone fragility and the risk of fracture. Postmenopausal women are at increased risk of osteoporosis because of the decline in estrogen production that occurs following menopause. The aim of the present study is to determine the protective effect of nondigestible oligosaccharides (NDOs) from chicory roots and phyto soya extract rich with isoflavones whether using alone or in combination on the prevention of osteoporosis using ovariectomized (OVX) rats as model of postmenopausal women. The results obtained suggested that supplementation with chicory root extract or phyto soya extract rich with isoflavone prevent the bone loss, and the combination of these supplements may have an additive and cooperative effect on the prevention of osteoporosis
