Beschreibung

The issue of training and employee performance has been of much importance in recent times. The objectives of this study were to assess the impact of training on employee performance and to determine the effects of training on job performance of employees. The main findings of this work included the following: with regards to the criteria of selecting staff for training, it was realised that most of the trainees were handpicked and this led to some not getting the chance to be trained at all. Training also affects employees performance in the sense that they get acquainted with their jobs and increase their aptitude, skills and knowledge. However, it was realised that employers did not attach much relevance to their training programmes because at most times, evaluation was not done to get feedback on the impact of the training on their staff. The study concluded that training affects employees performance in the sense that they get acquainted with their jobs and increase their aptitude, skills and knowledge. It is recommended that both employers and employees set objectives before training sessions, and also, evaluation should be done before and after training.
