The primary purpose of bringing out the book Cooperative Sugar Industry is to present a clear, straightforward and current account of the growth, productivity and commercial efficiency which have become standard tools for policy design and evaluation at government around the world. The book focuses on the growth of sugar industry first and thereafter the productivity and commercial efficiency are analytically characterized. The findings of the study indicate a fall in the growth of sugar industry. Various suggestions and recommendations offered in the book and provide valuable guidance to enable sugar industry to reap maximum benefit out of the favorable scenario emerging liberalized economy on the sugar industry in general and cooperative sugar industry in particular.

Lt.Dr.S.Ganesan is an Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. This work has been awarded by the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. His research has focused on public health, child labour, industrial workers, consumer welfare, manufacturing sector and product diversification etc.
