'Taxing Income by Using Exogenous Characteristics Under the Limits of German Constitutional and European Law' This interdisciplinary study deals with the legal feasibility of income tax models that are linked to exogenous, i.e. unchangeable characteristics of the individual. After presenting the economic background as well as certain characteristics and model designs, the limits under constitutional and European law are examined. The analysis focuses on the conflict between legal and factual equality as well as on the content and meaning of the ability-to-pay principle.
