The day to day challenges today are both the increased emissions and fuel rate consumption. Engine emissions remain a critical issue affecting the design and operation of IC engines, while energy conservation is becoming increasingly important. One approach to favorably address these issues is to achieve homogeneous charge combustion at lower peak temperatures with a high compression ratio which is the ultimate goal of partial Premixed Charge Compression Ignition engines.
