The wastewater business has been shaped by several major philosophical attitudes developed over the past hundreds of years. From the creation of health boards, to the institution of government social insurance programs, to the establishment of precautionary legal principles and the role of public financing, these elements observed in the wastewater industry have taken shape without coincidence. The current infrastructure gap and related wastewater industry problems can find their origins in the ideas of the past. In order to understand the current industry problems, one must not only observe the relevant history, law and economics, but also be critical at detecting their influence on the wastewater field. This book makes use of logic and praxeology (logic of action) to look at legal and economic frameworks and major historical events that significantly shaped the current-day wastewater business. Using these aforementioned methods can help uncover the current paradigms that hinder those in the industry from employing truly sustainable and financially efficient means of solving the current problems. Bartek graduated from the Poznan Polytechnique with post-graduate degree in water treatment. He also graduated from the University of Manitoba with doctorate degree on wastewater treatment. He currently works as an engineering consultant. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia and Alberta.
