This book is about the application of Social Spider Optimization (SSO) for the PSS parameter estimation problem on the standard IEEE multimachine power network. The realization of the objective function is done with the help of interpolation analysis by using MATLAB. An Eigen property analysis is carried out for a poorly damped system i.e. before installing PSS, and then the health of the system is observed after the employment of SSO tuned PSSs. A meaningful comparison is carried with GA and PSO based on convergence characteristics and dynamic response of the speed deviation curves of various generators.

Dr. Vivek Prakash is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, School of automation, Banasthali Vidyapith. His research interests include multiple areas of power systems ranging from frequency response, renewable generation uncertainty modeling, power system optimization & energy storage.
