This book not only gives the barriers to solar home systems deployment, but provides an overview of designing SHS sustainable implementation framework for rural Zambia. A survey was conducted in Kafubu farm block, Zambia, to highlight some of the challenges being faced by the rural population. In this book, the Zambias current non-significant improvement in the share of solar home systems has been attributed to the gaps in the existing policies as well as the lack of the legal and institutional frameworks. A framework for the probable sustainable implementation of renewable energy technologies is presented. This with suitable and sustainable deployment strategies would just be what Zambia needs to lift the burden off the existing burdened energy generation system.

Chilala Kakoma Bowa is a wife and mother of two, pursuing postgraduate studies at University of Johannesburg.she is a holder of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering (Energy planning and operations of power systems), from University of Zambia (UNZA) and Kathmandu University (UK) in Nepal respectively
