Today, information and communications technology (ICT) and computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools are two types of available technologies for translators to support a wide range of activities included in their translation work. Thus, translators need to be familiar with and have extensive knowledge of such tools. Translators play the main role in the translation process, but the role of freelance translators should be considered more important than other types, such in-house translators, because they are self-employed and have to cope with all translation activities alone. This book aimed at clarifying the importance of ICT and CAT tools for translators, especially freelance translators, as well as the effectiveness of such tools in their translations in terms of quality, speed, and price. Moreover, the findings of the study offer some recommendations that can be useful for those responsible for the spread of ICT knowledge via translation, for those responsible for training translators, for both translation students and trainee translators, for novice freelance translators, and for those who have invested in the translation sector.

Hamidreza Abdi has MA in Translation Studies from Azad University, Science and Research, Tehran, Iran in 2016. He received his BA in the same major from Azad University, Roodehen, Iran in 2009. He is a freelance researcher in the field of Translation Studies. His main interest is research in translation and technology.
