Skin is the largest organ of our body. It provides a physical, chemical, and mechanical barrier that protects the body from dehydration, helps maintain proper body temperature, and protects the body from infectious agents. Sometimes the skin itself becomes infected. Skin infections are caused by a wide variety of germs, and symptoms can vary from mild to serious. Mild infections may be treatable with over-the-counter medications and home remedies, whereas other infections may require medical attention. Primary infections of the skin and systemic infections with cutaneous manifestations are discussed throughout this book. This book is discussed all types of skin infections and emphasizes those with important pathobiological implications. This book also discussed all infections involve the soft tissues underlying the skin, subcutaneous fat, and superficial fascia.
