The rise of public environmental awareness increases the utilization of bamboo to fulfill many of human needs including housing and buildings. The use of bamboo for building material can be found in many different forms. The author tried to classify bamboo constructions based on the way bamboo is constructed. However in this book, the classification was limited to the constructions made of bamboo pole. Focusing on the bamboo joints, the author also reviewed and classified the existing bamboo joints. This classification can give the readers a better understanding and also can guide them to use or to improve existing joints, or even to invent new bamboo joints. In this book, three types of bamboo joints was proposed, although the research focused on the lashing-based bamboo joints after a comparison study. The most important result was the invention of lashing-based bamboo joint with multi-knots whose tension strength can be customized by the user. The examples of the application of the joints were also presented that can help the readers to use the joints directly. This invention will widen the use of bamboo pole in building constructions, such as for tension element as well as for space structure.
