The most important and interesting system in this world is the biological system of the human being. The system is so complex that even today, the complete analysis and modeling is not at all possible. The two most important organs of human body are brain and heart. The brain is an extremely complex bio-electric organ ever produced by nature. So, the author, with her limited knowledge and experience, selects heart, as her subject of interest because in authors opinion, heart is the relatively better understood bio-electric system and also heart disease is one of the most common cause of death all over the world. Electrocardiography is an effective non-invasive diagnostic technique, which is widely used by cardiologists. Beats extracted from ECG signals can be categorized in a range of classes corresponding to various diseases. The book is focused to detect those abnormalities by automatic processing of heart signal.

Dr. S. Mitra (Sarkar) received her B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D.(Tech) degree from University of Calcutta, India. At present, she is an Assistant Professor in Department of Electronics of Netaji Nagar Day College. Formerly, she attached to the Indian Statistical Institute as a Post Doctoral Fellow and Department of Applied Physics (CU) as a Guest Faculty.
