Pollution is a dimensionless entity and can be quantified only by measurement of the dependent variables. A viable approach is to monitor hydrographic and pollution parameters, trace metals, organic moieties and model the spacio-temporal data by empirical techniques. Strongly correlated variables may lead to conclude that pollution factor is present. As such pollution is not a single measurable entity but a constraint, which can be derived from measurement of its directly observable variables. Identification of such underlying dimensions or factors. greatly simplifies the description and understanding the complex phenomena with various variables. An arsenal of statistical / mathematical procedures in vogue vary from inspection of numerical values / scatter plots to multivariate non-linear models like neural networks. Keeping this in view In this Remedial Techniques for assessment of quality of Lake Sediments and soils study using SYSTAT 7.0 version software for advanced statistics analysis has been discussed.
