The traditional machining processes,in spite of present technical advancements, are insufficient and poor to machine intricate shape sin rigid, die steel and elevated strength temperature resistant alloys. By keeping all the necessities into mind,a number of Non-traditional machining (NTM) processes have been developed.

Vinod Kumar received his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab University Chandigarh. Then he received Doctoral Degree with specialization in Non-traditional Machining Methods from Thapar University. He is currently working as Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department at Thapar University Patiala.
