The advances in the field of Orthodontics has affected one and all,the evolution of Brackets is no exception. Right from their origin from the Angles Era to the present Pre-adjusted Edgewise Appliance(PEA) better known as Straight Wire Appliance the brackets have come a long way.The author discusses the transition from the standard edgewise appliance to the development of the Straight Wire Appliance.

Dr.Arbab Anjum did his graduation in 2010,completed his postgraduation in Orthodontics from Subharti dental college,Meerut in 2013.He is presently working as Senior lecturer at Institute of Dental Sciences,Bareilly.His area of interest include Myofunctional appliances,TADs,Lingual orthodontics.
