Beschreibung
This dissertation introduces a simulation model to describe the influence of initiator types in high-pressure autoclave reactors for LDPE production. The approach combines a deterministic model with a stochastic Monte Carlo model to simulate the polymerization process and to capture polymer properties such as molecular weight distribution and branching density. Mixing effects in the reactor are accounted through a compartmentalisation approach, enabling the simulation of temperature and concentration gradients. These gradients, which are mainly affected by the initiator type, reveal to describe the influence of the initiator onto the polymerization process and with this enables a link between the type of initiator and the properties of the resulting polymer.
