Beschreibung

The word Thermoacoustic is the combination of two words Thermo (heat) and Acoustic (sound). A Thermo-Acoustic Refrigerator (TAR) is a refrigerator that uses sound waves in order to provide the cooling. The gap between the efficiency of the conventional refrigerators and thermoacoustic refrigerators is largely due to technical immaturity. This book mainly focuses on the understanding of the basic phenomena of thermoacoustics and its working principle for the refrigeration effect. On the basis of this understanding a test based prototype was designed and fabricated using cost-effective resources and methods, which was tested under required operating conditions and the result analysis and comparison was then performed to achieve optimum COP and further improvements if required. Key drivers to encourage uptake of thermoacoustic technology in the food sector are environmental considerations, self-contained refrigeration equipment & the development of systems that offer efficiency and cost advantages over vapour compression systems. We expect the scope of thermoacoustic applications to expand both domestically and in emerging markets.
