The goal of every maintenance department is to anticipate repairs and initiate activities that prevent mechanical failures. Manufacturing firms perform various preventive maintenance (PM) activities at specified intervals to achieve this objective. Some intervals evolve from manufacturers specifications and industry experiences. This book outlines an empirical method of developing a generic checklist for fault detection for diesel power generating plants to guide preventing maintenance personnel on inspection. This textbook is arrranged so that it can be used for self-study by technical personnel in practice.

Amiebenomo O.Sebastian obtained his M.Eng.(Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Benin and M.Eng (Industrial Engineering) from the same institution. He is working as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ekpoma. He has close to 15 years in teaching and Industrial experience.
