Digital video for user-centered co-design is an emerging field of design, gaining increasing interest in both industry and academia. It merges the techniques and approaches of design ethnography, participatory design, interaction analysis, scenario-based design, and usability studies. This book covers the complete user-centered design project. It illustrates in detail how digital video can be utilized throughout the design process, from early user studies to making sense of video content and envisioning the future with video scenarios to provoking change with video artifacts. The text includes a wealth of first-hand case studies from both academia and industry that are complemented by video excerpts. Autorenporträt
Salu Ylirisku, M.Sc. in Computer Science, is a researcher in School of Design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. He has over 10 years of experience of working with video in different professional and academic projects. His studies have focused on studying methods for user-centered design in the early phases of product design. Jacob Buur, Ph.D., is a professor of User Centered Design in the Mads Clausen Institute for Product Innovation at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). He is an internationally acknowledged pioneer on working with video for user-centered design purposes. Before joining the university he was the manager of the Danfoss user-centered design group.
