Today ball and roller bearings have wide ranges of applications in rotating machinery. Whenever a shaft rotates there are likely to be ball/roller bearing supporting it. Bearings form an integral part of majority of machines, instruments and assemblies. The accuracy and sensitivity of majority of precision instruments and assemblies have improved considerably in recent past. Tremendous program has also been made in achieving reduction in the sizes of machines, their weight and power requirements. This entire lead to the new types and design of bearings and assemblies. This development stimulated theoretical and experimental research on the dynamic characteristics of the bearings. In this review an attempt is made to study the factors affecting the vibration characteristics of bearing and their effects on the fatigue life of bearings.

Dr Bhandari has extensive teaching and research experience of 17 years. His expertise are in the areas of thermal engineering, CAD, Finite element method and machine design. He has published 27 research papers in journals and conferences.
