Free Space Optical (FSO) communications has received a great interest in recent years as a solution of some challenges facing fiber optic communications and wireless communications. Transmitters and receivers design, investigating pointing errors, effect of environmental phenomena, link budget, availability and bit error rate (BER) are some of the important research points required to investigate, analyze and evaluate the performance of an FSO link.

El-Wakeel is an Assistant Lecturer with the department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport, where he had received his BSc and MSc. Currently, El-Wakeel is on leave to Queen's University as a Research Assistant and PhD student at the Department of Elect. & Comp. Eng.
