This is the first book devoted to mobility management, covering the important principles, technologies and applications of mobility management based on years of academic research and industry experiences. The content is organized according to the reference models proposed by the authors, and emphasizes on technical principles rather than protocol details; a systematic and comprehensive introduction is presented yet without losing focuses; the existing technologies in cellular system, mobile Internet and IMS/SIP are also extensively compared. This book can be an indispensable reference for mobile communication engineers, computer network engineers, researchers and anyone else involved in academic, industrial and standardization activities on mobility management.

Beschreibung

This book focuses on the mobility management technology which supports the service continuity across the heterogeneous access networks. As the mobility function has evolved as an essential feature in the network communications, the mobility management is discussed as a specific technology, and a systematic overview of it is provided. The proposed protocol reference model is made as the main line in the book, which includes multi-dimensional studies on the mobility management requirements and technologies, in-depth analysis of the typical technologies based on the protocol reference model, as well as the potential research directions. In this book, a systematic overview of the technical principles rather than the protocol details is addressed. It is a valuable reference work for the researchers, engineers and students working in the fields of wireless mobile communications, heterogeneous networks, the mobile Internet and the mobility management. Dr. Chen is the CTO of Datang Telecom Technology & Industry Group, and the guest professor in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) and Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU).

Autorenporträt

Dr. Chen has worked in both industry and academic. Dr. Chen is currently the SVP, CTO and CIO of Datang Telecom Technology & Industry Group (China Academy of Telecommunications Technology, CATT), where he is responsible for strategy development, technology and standard development, corporate IT, and strategic alliances and cooperation.
