Innovation in education as it relates to the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is of immense importance as this global trend may be referred to as the fourth industrial revolution. Following the ability to manipulate fire, the invention of the wheel and the working of useful metals, this revolution has contributed to an increase in the rate of development in quantum leaps. From the use of smart instruments we have progressed to smarter classrooms where students all around the world are capable of accessing information with the application of a few keystrokes and children are poised to advise their peers and parents on the applicability of the latest trends in technology. The digital divide is becoming less daunting with advances in communication and improved connectivity and this impacts on how teaching and learning strategies evolve.
