Leachate is highly polluted liquid due to high content of ammonium ions and organic compounds. The high ammonia content causes the problem when leachate move downwards from landfill into ground-water table as a result of infiltrated precipitation, ground-water gets contaminated. Once groundwater is contaminated it is very costly to clean-up. The treatment technologies used for the treatment of leachate change from site to site and landfill to landfill due to characteristics change of the leachate. IN this present book a brief review of the methods and technologies used for municipal solid waste & lechate Management are discussed and further the results achieved by a combined electrocoagulation-oxidation of leachate sample is presented.

Dr. Arun Kumar Thalla works as Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engg. at NITK Surathkal India. He did his M. Tech & PhD from IIT Roorkee and has about 8 years of Teaching, Research and Industrial experience. He has published 28 research papers in various Journals & Conferences. He has 2 National and 1 International fellowships.
