Lamination provides various advantages including enhanced strength and stiffness, ability of members to occur in straight or curved profiles, uniform or variable cross sections, low coefficient of thermal expansion, improved resistance to moisture, reduced defects such as knots, possibility of large spans and so on. Laminated hardwood has been scarcely used for structural purposes in Nigeria compared to other countries like Canada, America, Russia and Sweden.
