The construction industry in developing countries plays a pivotal role in their national economies and infrastructure development. The relationship between construction and total output of the economy has been investigated in many countries. The regulation of the construction sector is the top ranked factor to affect the industry. Therefore, the industry is in desperate need of the establishment and/or empowerment of appropriate institutions necessary to facilitate the development of a modern and sophisticated construction industry.

Malik Dongla is the general manager of Malik Dongula for construction and contracting. Dongla serves as the Chairman of the Council of the Engineering Works Contractors in Sudan. Dongla received BS in civil engineering from University of Khartoum, MS from University of Sheffield and PhD from Omdurman Islamic University.
